Thankyou so much for your time today Nici Henningsen. Looking forward to working closer with the Communications Council this year and into the future. Hoping to see some former Swinburne Advertising students in the 2017 Graduate Program at a minmum, and hopefully some will consider applying for the amazing AWARD School.
Great to catch up with you Ben Shapira. Looking forward to getting you back at the front of the classroom this year - your engaging communication style sits perfectly with our Advertising Major students.
Thankyou Media Federation of Australia (MFA) and Bohemia for running the 2017 Lecture the Lecturers event. A fantastic line up of speakers including Brett Dawson (Bohemia Group), Clive Dickens (Seven West Media), Charlie Murdoch (News Media Works), Matt Gower (News Corp), Ricky Chanana (Maxus), Jason Tonelli (Starcom), along with the young Execs Panel (Sam Parrot, Cameron Roberts, Emma Greenlagh , Mike Donohoe) and the fantastic Linda Wong.
Fantastic to connect last week on campus with Sam Sparks (left) and Nick Berry (right) from SBS Media Sales. Such a great TV Network with a strong digital strategy, and hopefully some great opportunities for Swinburne Advertising students this year. Watch this space.
We are very proud to announce that the Advertising Industry/student forum received a Swinburne University Vice-Chancellor's Award for Industry Engagement last week. This is a very real acknowledgment that the strategy undertaken in developing this project is correct, important to the Advertising Major moving forwards, and valuable to the University as a whole. This was very much a team award, so whilst Swinburne initiated the project, UQ Business School jointly contributed to the undertaking. My thanks to all those Executives and Agencies who attended this year and to all those 2016 Advertising Major students for the positive endorsements received in support of this nomination.
2016 Swinburne University Vice-Chancellor's Award for Industry Engagement awarded to: David Reid,
Dr Nicole Hartley, Amy Denyer, Jonathan Lang, and Yolan Berry. Student members: Michelle Butson, Monthgomery Quaife-Ryan.
LtoR: Receiving the award at Hawthorn Town Hall from Swinburne Vice-Chancellor Professor Linda Kristjanson,
The Semester has come to an end. Thankyou to all of you for your continous efforts, your hard work and dedication in the Advertising capstone challenge. I hope that 'real world' challenge, namely the communications brief from Cricket Australia and M&C Saatchi, has been an exciting but manageble and rewarding undertaking. I also hope the opportunity to compete directly with students from UQ Business School has fostered an extra 'spark' in your work ethic this semester. Thankyou for your feedback and suggestions on how to improve the Unit moving forward. For those of you who leave Swinburne shortly as graduates - I wish you every success in the real world, and if it's Advertising you see as your career then please let me know how I can help you with that transition to employment. It's a marvellously competitive Industry, so if you have a developing passion, and the energy and commitment to give it a go - the Advertising Industry will look after you, foster your development and reward you. Keep in touch.
LtoR: Myself, with The Sandwich Agency (Naomi Barnes, Benjamin Mann, and Michael Saunders)
LtoR: PUSH. (Philip Derbyshire, Rebecca Lamplugh, Malvina Paula Zakrisson, Kelsey Giardina) and I.
The 2016 Advertising Industry/Student forum was a great success. Not only did the event sell out but we connected with an engaged online audience through our live stream on Facebook. You can now view the digital video recordings here. Additionally a small photo gallery is viewable here.
Dr Nicole Hartley and I as Co-Chairs would officially like to thank all participants without whose generous support the event would not exist! Their input on graduate career transition and progression provided great insight for soon to be graduating students. That’s a significant advantage for those motivated, passionate Advertising Creatives/Executives of the future.
So thankyou Shachar Meron, and Melinda Geertz for your keynotes.
Thankyou 'Executives + Grads'; David Dahan, Gareth Nicholls, Hannah Spilva, Nicole Sherwin, Sarah Guyer and Cale Valkenburg.
Thankyou 'HR Executives + Grads'; Adam O'Connor, Kim Lion, Kate Rengey and Rachel Kertes.
We would also very much like to thank our core sponsors, namely Swinburne University and UQ Business School. Sincere thanks in particular also go to The Communications Council (Nici Henningsen and Suzy Leys). We would also like to thank the Media Federation of Australia, the IAB, Microsoft, and Mediascope for your time and consideration.
Finally and by no means least we would like to thank the Organising Committee/ Live Stream team including Amy Denyer, Michelle Butson, Montgomery Quaife-Ryan, Jonathan Lang and Yolan Berry.
We are looking at options to expand the forum in 2017 by possibly joining with new University partners. Hopefully a more expanded concept/program will emerge. Watch this space!
